Microsoft Tests PC Insights Feature with Copilot in Windows 11
Microsoft is testing a new feature called PC Insights within Windows 11, accessible via Copilot, aimed at simplifying the diagnosis of computer performance issues.

Microsoft has begun testing a new Copilot-integrated feature in Windows 11 known as PC Insights. This tool is designed to provide users with a straightforward, conversational method for identifying what is slowing down their computer's performance.
The PC Insights feature is expected to eventually supplement or replace the existing Task Manager. Instead of users having to navigate complex data within Task Manager, PC Insights will leverage AI and a chat interface to assist users in diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks.
The feature monitors system resource usage, including CPU, RAM, and GPU, to analyze device performance and storage capacity. It can also help users determine if they have sufficient space for installing new applications or games.
With explicit user permission, PC Insights can gather more granular data such as folder and file sizes, connected USB devices and storage, network status, and battery health. Microsoft states that data collection is consent-based and the information will not be permanently stored or used for model training.
However, early testing has highlighted challenges, particularly concerning the PC Insights application's significant memory consumption. The integration of Microsoft Edge browser components contributes to an average memory usage that can reach close to 1GB, even when the application is idle.
