Microsoft Updates Windows 11 Apps: Calculator, Notepad, Clock, and Media Player

Microsoft has issued updates for four core Windows 11 applications: Calculator, Notepad, Clock, and Media Player. These updates are currently available to testers within the Windows Insider program across various channels, including Experimental, Beta, and Release Preview. The new versions introduce a range of fixes and enhancements to the applications' functionality.

For Calculator (version 11.2606.0.0), updates address an issue in scientific mode concerning the reset functions (C and CE) and resolve shortcut conflicts. Improvements to screen reader support have also been implemented.

Notepad (version 11.2606.15.0) receives updates focused on file handling and overall performance. Formatting for .md and .markdown files has been improved, along with enhanced support for copying and pasting indentation and nested lists. Application startup performance has been boosted, and a bug causing incorrect display of underline characters is now fixed.

Clock (version 11.2606.11.0) updates improve the functionality of Focus sessions, ensuring tasks no longer disappear after completion. Additionally, the updated app provides more accurate sunrise and sunset times, particularly for users in higher latitudes.

Media Player (version 11.2606.19.0) sees enhancements in local album art handling. The application now prioritizes searching for cover art files within the album folder before resorting to online searches, aiming to display correct artwork more consistently. Messages for disabled libraries and track list rendering when changing sort order have also been improved.
