Microsoft updates Windows 11 preview builds with enhanced search and gaming controls
Microsoft has released new Windows 11 preview builds to Beta and Experimental channels, focusing on granular privacy controls and integrated search functionality.
Microsoft has issued updates for Windows 11 preview builds 25H2 and 26H2, introducing functional changes to its desktop operating system. For users in the Experimental channel, the update includes an expanded search experience that enables inline adjustments for settings like volume and screen brightness directly within the search interface. The search feature also adds improved integration with mobile devices, allowing for direct communication management.
For the Beta channel, Microsoft has implemented a more granular approach to privacy. Users can now manage camera, microphone, and location permissions for individual desktop applications. Previously, these permissions were governed by a unified setting, but the new interface provides users with greater visibility and control over how legacy software accesses hardware resources.
Additionally, the update addresses several system stability issues and refines the gaming experience by adding quick-access system toggles to the Xbox gaming dashboard. These changes are part of ongoing development cycles within the Windows Insider program, aimed at refining user interaction and system policy execution.
