Microsoft updates Windows 11 with enhanced search and gaming mode shortcuts
Microsoft is introducing new search filtering capabilities and system settings access to Windows 11 through its latest Insider preview build.
Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 Insider build featuring expanded functionality for its operating system's search and gaming interfaces. The update aims to streamline user navigation by integrating system controls directly into active environments.
Gaming mode now includes quick-access shortcuts for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and power settings, allowing users to adjust system configurations without closing full-screen games. This change addresses longstanding user feedback regarding the friction caused by switching out of gaming environments to manage hardware connectivity.
Furthermore, the search interface now supports granular filtering for files, web results, and specific system actions. Users can now adjust display brightness, volume levels, or interact with connected mobile devices directly from the search bar. The search tool also displays expanded metadata, such as file authorship and real-time financial data.
These updates are currently available to members of the Windows Insider program. The company intends to monitor user feedback from these testing channels before determining a broader public rollout.
