Microsoft updates Xbox PC and web applications with interface redesign
Microsoft has released a redesigned Xbox PC application and updated its cloud gaming interface, aiming to improve performance and navigation for Windows users.
Microsoft is initiating a rollout of a redesigned Xbox PC application alongside updates to its cloud gaming service on web and smart TV platforms. The company claims the new PC application launches significantly faster than previous versions, addressing long-standing criticism regarding the software's responsiveness and interface alignment with the console experience.
The update simplifies the navigation architecture, moving away from previous layouts that relied heavily on traditional desktop interactions. By streamlining the interface, Microsoft intends to create a more consistent user experience across PC, cloud, and console hardware, a move that follows the introduction of the company's portable gaming devices.
Xbox Insider participants have gained immediate access to the updated PC application for testing purposes. The revised interface for Xbox Cloud Gaming is scheduled to reach the general public within the coming weeks. These changes signal a continued investment in the software ecosystem as Microsoft seeks to unify its gaming services across various hardware formats.
