Microsoft has initiated a 90-day countdown for the end of support for Windows 11 version 24H2 Home and Pro. These editions of the operating system will officially cease receiving support on October 13, 2026.

According to Microsoft's announcement, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 will also reach its end of support on the same date. These deadlines align with Microsoft's established product lifecycle, where consumer-facing Windows 11 editions typically receive 24 months of support post-release.

However, Windows 11 Enterprise and Education editions based on 24H2 will continue to receive an additional year of support, extending until October 12, 2027. This extended support for enterprise editions is a standard practice to accommodate the needs of large organizations.

Microsoft is advising users of Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro to upgrade to the more recent 25H2 version. Additionally, version 26H2 is in development and nearing release, offering users another upgrade path. For Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 users, a migration to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2024 is recommended, which provides an extended support lifecycle.
