Microsoft WinUI Adds Native Table and Chart Controls for Windows
Microsoft has released Windows App SDK 2.5 Experimental, introducing new TableView and Chart controls for WinUI 3. The update also addresses issues causing increased memory usage in some applications.
Microsoft has expanded its Windows App SDK with the release of version 2.5 Experimental, which introduces new TableView and Chart controls for WinUI 3. The update aims to provide developers with enhanced tools for creating data-rich and visually appealing native Windows applications.
The TableView control allows for the display of multi-row, multi-column data in a tabular format, suitable for scenarios like file listings, order records, and business reports. The Chart control enables the conversion of data into visual representations such as line and bar graphs, allowing developers to build interactive charts directly within native applications.
In addition to new controls, the update addresses a bug that led to increased memory consumption in WinUI applications. Microsoft reported that the issue was linked to scenarios involving repeated creation of visual state storyboards or continuous parsing of static and theme resources.
WinUI serves as Microsoft's native user interface framework for Windows application development. The Windows App SDK integrates WinUI with other core Windows development capabilities, including window management and application lifecycle, to offer a cohesive platform for developers.
