Midea Air Conditioners Feature New Technology for Extended Durability

Midea Building Technologies is highlighting its Hyper Graphene Black Fin technology, a development intended to boost the durability and energy efficiency of its air conditioning systems. The company states this technology can extend the operational life of the units by up to 50 years, contingent on environmental and usage factors.

The core of the technology is a graphene coating applied to the heat exchange fins within the air conditioner. Midea asserts this coating provides enhanced resistance to corrosion, claiming it is up to five times more durable than traditional gold coatings. It also offers improved protection against moisture, chemicals, and salt spray, making the units more resilient in challenging environments, such as coastal areas or locations with industrial pollutants.

Reports indicate that the Hyper Graphene Black Fin technology can improve heat transfer efficiency by as much as 31 percent compared to conventional coatings. This enhancement may result in faster cooling performance and reduced energy consumption. Additionally, the coating is designed to minimize water and dirt buildup on surfaces, which can help maintain better air quality and reduce the frequency of maintenance.

Beyond the fin technology, Midea has incorporated structural reinforcements, including a diamond-edge design and a T-shaped top cover, to improve physical resilience. The company utilizes high-quality, corrosion-resistant copper piping for its cooling systems. The units also feature Air Magic technology for filtering fine particles and bacteria, along with an automatic dedusting system that clears debris from the fan after operation.
