Midea Opens Indonesia's Largest Refrigerator Factory

Midea Electronics Indonesia has officially opened its largest refrigerator manufacturing plant in Indonesia, located in Karawang, marking a significant expansion of its local production capabilities. The new facility boasts an annual production capacity of over 2 million units, aiming to bolster the growth of the Indonesian home appliance industry.

The factory, situated in the Suryacipta Industrial Estate, covers an area of over 150,000 square meters. It is distinguished as the first and only plant in Indonesia capable of producing both side-by-side refrigerators and chest freezers within a single integrated production line. This facility is positioned to become a key production base for Midea's refrigerators, serving the domestic market and supporting exports to various countries.

The investment is expected to create thousands of new jobs in the Karawang region, contributing to local economic development. It also reflects Midea's commitment to enhancing local workforce skills through modern manufacturing practices and aligns with the Indonesian government's objectives to attract foreign investment and strengthen the national manufacturing sector.

Midea is also expanding its washing machine production in Indonesia. The company's washing machine factory in Cikarang targets an annual output of up to 500,000 units. Currently producing twin-tub washing machines, Midea plans to invest in the production of top-loading models starting next year, further solidifying its manufacturing presence.
