Midea Opens Technology Innovation Campus in Shanghai
Midea Building Technologies has officially opened its Shanghai Midea Global Innovation Campus, a facility focused on technology research and development. The campus is a key element in the company's global expansion strategy.

Midea Building Technologies officially opened the Shanghai Midea Global Innovation Campus on July 21. The new R&D facility, which integrates technology offices and innovation research, represents Midea's second global innovation and R&D base in China covering all product categories, following its center in Shunde. The Shanghai campus is positioned with a global outlook.
Located in the Xihongqiao Business District in Qingpu, Shanghai, the campus represents an investment exceeding 7 billion RMB (approximately 965 million USD) and spans 400,000 square meters. This facility is part of Midea's "2+4+N" global R&D network, supporting its strategic transformation into a global technology group.
Nearly 2,000 R&D personnel are now based at the campus, focusing on fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, new materials, robotics, and healthcare. The architectural design includes notable features like China's first large-span cable-stayed structural system, enabling significant spans and cantilevers, which has generated over 50 architectural patents.
The campus is designed with a focus on integrating with nature, featuring a three-dimensional forest landscape. Its facade incorporates an intelligent double-skin curtain wall system for light control, and the rooftops are equipped for solar energy generation, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainability. This expansion signifies Midea's ongoing investment in technological advancement and global reach.
