Midea Unveils SMART MASTER AI-Powered Home Ecosystem

Midea Building Technologies showcased its new SMART MASTER system at IFA 2026 in Berlin, Germany, aiming to create an AI-powered home ecosystem. The system utilizes voice commands to control home appliances, intending to enhance living comfort and energy efficiency.

The core of SMART MASTER is an AI agent capable of understanding 140 languages and recognizing speech from up to eight meters away. It reportedly responds to commands in 0.4 seconds and comprehends natural conversation without requiring repeated wake words. Voice commands are integrated directly into appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and ovens, and are also accessible via the Midea app, smart speakers, and in-car systems.

The system includes an "Efficiency Agent" designed to help households manage energy consumption. It provides an overview of consumption trends, solar energy generation, and emissions. The system can automatically utilize solar power for appliances and schedule tasks during periods of more favorable electricity prices.

Midea also introduced the "Comfort Agent," which aims to create an optimal living environment. For instance, it can trigger a "Welcome Home" mode upon a car's arrival, adjusting the air conditioner, humidifier, and washer-dryer based on external conditions and personal preferences. The "Health Agent" assists with cooking by recommending recipes based on refrigerator contents and freshness data, while coordinating other kitchen appliances.

Additionally, the "Service Agent" diagnoses appliance faults through methods like photos or video calls, providing repair guidance. Midea Building Technologies, part of Midea Group, aims with this comprehensive system to offer an integrated and intelligent living experience.
