Midea: Vacuuming Air Conditioners is Crucial During Installation

Midea Building Technologies is emphasizing the critical role of air conditioner installation procedures, specifically the vacuuming process. This step, which removes air and moisture from the refrigerant lines before charging the system, is presented as essential for ensuring the unit's optimal performance, energy efficiency, and extended lifespan.

The company explains that residual air and moisture left in the pipes can react with the refrigerant and compressor oil under high pressure and temperature. This reaction can create corrosive acids that damage the compressor's insulation, leading to internal short circuits. Furthermore, moisture can freeze and obstruct the refrigerant flow, overworking the compressor, significantly increasing electricity consumption, and potentially causing premature compressor failure.

Vacuuming is performed using a specialized vacuum pump to evacuate air and moisture, ensuring only refrigerant and oil circulate. This process also serves as a leak test; a rise in pressure during vacuuming indicates a leak that can be fixed before expensive refrigerant is lost.

Midea points out that even with new, factory-sealed units, the connecting copper lines are exposed to ambient air during installation. Therefore, vacuuming is a mandatory step, especially for modern systems using R32 and R410A refrigerants, which manufacturers often specify in their installation manuals.

Midea Building Technologies urges consumers to ensure that professional installers adhere to these correct installation methods, including vacuuming, to maximize their air conditioners' functionality and energy savings.
