Midland Exploration Inc. announced the acquisition of a 100% interest in a 172-claim block, covering 96 km2, located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Chapais, Quebec. The new Lewis project solidifies Midland's strategic position along the Guercheville-Opawica deformation zone.

The property is situated roughly 60 kilometers northwest of the Nelligan deposit, a joint venture between Iamgold Corporation (51%) and Vanstar Mining Resources (49%). As of December 31, 2019, Nelligan reported inferred resources of 96.99 million tonnes at 1.02 g/t gold, totaling 3.19 million ounces. Additionally, the former Lac Shortt mine, located approximately 12 kilometers west of the Lewis property, historically produced 2.7 million tonnes of gold at an average grade of 4.6 g/t.

The Lewis property encompasses over 10 kilometers of strike length along a structural intersection and a major regional flexure associated with the Opawica Fault. Several segments of this structure have seen minimal prior exploration. The acquisition also lies in the east-northeast extension of historical gold occurrences linked to the Opawica Fault.

Midland is currently undertaking a detailed compilation of all previous work. The company has targeted historically underexplored areas along the Opawica Fault for follow-up ground work during the 2020 field season.
