Midmark RTLS Expands Epic Presence With Staff Safety Solution

Midmark RTLS, a provider of real-time locating system (RTLS) technology for clinical workflows, has expanded its integration with Epic. The company's staff safety solution, CareFlow RTLS Staff Duress, is now listed in the Epic Toolbox for 2026 under the Staff Duress category.

This expanded integration allows healthcare organizations to bring real-time, location-aware staff safety alerts directly into the clinical workflows caregivers already use within Epic. When a caregiver discreetly presses a button on their personal badge, the system sends immediate information about the need for assistance and the user's location directly to Epic.

The solution is designed to enable faster, more informed emergency responses, particularly during workplace violence events. By utilizing the same RTLS badges that may already be used for other workflow automation tasks, the system reduces the need for additional devices and ensures that responders have critical location data.

This new integration builds upon Midmark RTLS's long-standing relationship with Epic, which began in 2012. By including CareFlow RTLS Staff Duress in the Epic Toolbox, Midmark reinforces its commitment to delivering interoperable solutions that enhance caregiver safety and streamline clinical processes.

The system offers deployment flexibility, supporting Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Infrared (IR), or hybrid RTLS technologies, allowing healthcare facilities to tailor the solution to their specific needs and existing technology investments.
