Migu and Lenovo Pit AI Against Humans in World Cup Predictions
Chinese broadcaster Migu and technology firm Lenovo have launched the "Human vs. AI World Cup Challenge," pitting 12 Chinese AI models against each other in predicting tournament outcomes.

Chinese broadcaster Migu and FIFA's official technology partner Lenovo have initiated the "Human vs. AI World Cup Challenge," a competition designed to test the predictive capabilities of artificial intelligence during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The event features 12 of China's leading large language models, including DeepSeek, Kimi, ERNIE Bot, and Qwen, and has drawn tens of millions of participants.
Beginning with predictions for the 32 teams advancing from the group stage, the competition has since shifted to forecasting individual match winners and exact scores as the tournament progresses. Migu, holding the broadcast rights in China, developed a common platform for these AI models to compete.
The challenge includes a live studio show, "Human vs. AI: Who Predicts It Better?," where celebrity guests compete against the AI models in real time. Leaderboards tracking prediction accuracy are released after each match, creating an ongoing, engaging event.
The World Cup serves as a high-stakes proving ground for China's AI sector. The "Human vs. AI" competition offers fans a tangible comparison of AI performance and provides insights into the strengths of China's large language model ecosystem.
