Milwaukee Bucks President Josh Glessing: Career Paths Are Rarely Planned
Milwaukee Bucks President Josh Glessing states that career paths are rarely straightforward. His own journey led from municipal finance to Wall Street and sports business, ultimately returning to lead his hometown team.

Milwaukee Bucks President Josh Glessing emphasizes that career paths do not often follow a predetermined plan. Glessing's own trajectory serves as an example, as he did not envision himself leading his childhood team when he was younger.
Glessing began his career in municipal finance, which provided him with foundational knowledge of stadium and arena economics. He then moved to Goldman Sachs, where he advised sports organizations on financing, mergers, and acquisitions. Later, he joined Haslam Sports Group, working in investments and real estate, and also served as president of business operations for the Columbus Crew.
Through these diverse experiences, Glessing explained how he eventually arrived at his current role with the Bucks, despite not foreseeing it. "If someone had asked me for a five-year prediction of what I'd be doing, I would have been very wrong," Glessing told Inc. magazine.
He noted that career progression often appears more logical in retrospect. Municipal finance introduced him to the economics of sports infrastructure, Goldman Sachs broadened his understanding of sports businesses, and Haslam Sports Group offered experience in investment, real estate, and operational management.
