Minecraft Daily Player Growth Exceeds 300,000, Global Sales Top 425 Million
Microsoft's Minecraft continues to attract over 300,000 new players daily on average. The game has surpassed 425 million units in global sales since its release.

Microsoft's enduringly popular title, Minecraft, is seeing significant new player acquisition, averaging over 300,000 new players each day. This figure was revealed by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma during the Minecraft Live 2026 event. The announcement coincided with the game reaching another milestone: over 425 million copies sold worldwide since its launch more than 17 years ago.
These numbers represent a remarkable achievement in the gaming industry. The daily influx of new players is comparable to the entire population of a medium-sized city discovering Minecraft for the first time. The game's extensive reach across platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices, contributes to its accessibility and continued growth.
Mojang Studios is set to introduce further content to maintain player engagement. Notably, a new dimension called "The Sift" has been confirmed, marking the first new playable dimension in over 14 years. Scheduled for a 2027 release, it will bring new gameplay mechanics and a biome known as "Ice Caves" featuring frosty zombie enemies. Additionally, "Minecraft Dungeons 2" was officially announced and is slated for release on September 29.
The studio is also developing new tools for content creators and planning a real-world Minecraft-themed attraction in the UK. This sustained focus on content development appears to be a key factor in Minecraft's longevity. The game has successfully appealed to multiple generations of players, and its integration into educational settings, coupled with a vibrant creator ecosystem, keeps it relevant.
Mojang Studios anticipates Minecraft's continued expansion, aiming to replicate its past success over the next 17 years. At the current rate of new daily players, the veteran title possesses considerable potential for future development and audience growth.
