Minecraft Global Sales Exceed 425 Million Units
Microsoft's Minecraft has achieved a cumulative global sales figure of over 425 million units. The game continues to attract more than 300,000 new players daily.
Microsoft's enduring title, Minecraft, has surpassed a significant milestone, with cumulative global sales now exceeding 425 million units. The announcement was made by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, highlighting the game's sustained popularity over 17 years since its initial release.
Developed by Mojang Studios and acquired by Microsoft in 2014, Minecraft has a history of breaking sales records. It previously surpassed 100 million units in 2016, cementing its status as one of the best-selling video games worldwide.
The latest sales figure indicates a growth of approximately 75 million units in the last 18 months. Sharma also noted that over 300,000 new players begin their Minecraft journey each day, demonstrating the game's ongoing appeal to a broad audience.
It is important to note that Minecraft is available through subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, meaning daily new player numbers do not directly equate to game purchases. However, the game's ability to maintain such a large player base and attract new players for over 15 years is a notable achievement in the gaming industry.
