MINISFORUM Releases Lower-Cost MS-01 SE Mini Workstation
MINISFORUM has introduced the MS-01 SE, a variant of its MS-01 mini workstation, featuring adjusted specifications and a lower price point compared to the original model.
MINISFORUM (铭凡), a manufacturer of mini PCs, has released a new iteration of its MS-01 workstation known as the MS-01 SE. This variant offers a more budget-friendly option but incorporates several downgrades in hardware and connectivity.
The MS-01 SE is powered by an Intel Core i5-12600H processor and supports DDR4 SO-DIMM memory through two slots. In contrast to the original MS-01, the PCIe Gen4 slot has been reduced to ×4 lanes. Additionally, the dual 10GbE SFP+ ports on the rear have been replaced with two USB-A 480Mbps ports. Wireless connectivity is handled by a MediaTek MT7902 card, supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
Despite the modifications, the MS-01 SE retains three M.2 2280 slots for storage, accommodating PCIe Gen4 ×4, PCIe Gen3 ×4, and PCIe Gen3 ×2 configurations. Other I/O includes two USB-C 40Gbps ports and two 2.5GbE RJ-45 Ethernet ports. The device also supports Intel vPro technology.
Pricing for the MINISFORUM MS-01 SE starts at $375 for a barebones configuration (approximately 2,521 RMB). A model with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD is priced at $775 (approximately 5,210 RMB). For comparison, the original MS-01 with similar specifications was priced at $439 (approximately 2,951 RMB) for the barebones version and $959 (approximately 6,447 RMB) for the 32GB/1TB configuration.
The MS-01 SE aims to provide a more accessible entry point into MINISFORUM's workstation-class mini PCs, catering to users who may not require the highest-end specifications of the original model.
