Minnesota State Fair Introduces New and Unusual Food Offerings

The Minnesota State Fair, also known as the "Great Minnesota Get-Together," has expanded its culinary offerings for 2023 with 36 new food items and nine new vendors, bringing the total menu to approximately 1,600 items.

While many new additions adhere to fair traditions, such as the "When Pigs Fly" dish presented on a stick, this year's event also features more unconventional flavor combinations that challenge traditional expectations.

LuLu's Public House is debuting "Pickle Pie," a dish that combines a pie crust with a filling of pickles, pickle juice, and cream cheese. This unique item has garnered attention, including a comment from Senator Tina Smith on her official X account.

Other new items include "Dill with it, Cookie!" from Urban Glow Mocktails, which infuses a sweet cookie with dill and brine flavors. The "Apple Donut Ham Grinder" from the Minnesota Farmers Union Coffee Shop pairs apples with ham and hot honey, while El Burrito Mercado's mole taco introduces a traditional Mexican flavor.

The 12-day fair takes place from August 27 to September 7 in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, with an expected attendance of over 2 million visitors. Beyond food, the event includes musical performances, a carnival, and agricultural showcases.
