Mintos launches commission-free stock investing from 1 euro

European investment platform Mintos has enabled commission-free stock trading for retail investors, allowing access to over 4,000 globally traded stocks starting from just 1 euro. This move positions Mintos as a unique European platform offering ETFs, stocks, bonds, loans, real estate, crypto ETPs, and Smart Cash in a single account.

The launch coincides with a reported rise in retail investor participation in European stock markets. Data from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) indicated that nearly 10% of EU adults traded stocks between 2022 and 2025. Germany saw a notable increase in share ownership, while household investment in Spanish listed companies reached a four-year high.

Mintos' stock investing service eliminates trading and custody fees, with no subscription or paid plan required. For U.S. stocks, trading is conducted in euros, avoiding currency exchange fees. Fractional shares allow investors to participate with small amounts, beginning at 1 euro.

"Commissions can be a barrier for people starting to invest in stocks, especially with small amounts, and we want to remove that," said Martins Sulte, CEO and co-founder of Mintos. "Mintos is now the only place in Europe where you can invest in stocks alongside ETFs, bonds, loans, real estate, crypto ETPs, and Smart Cash, all in one account. This is a significant advancement for investors looking to build and manage a truly diversified portfolio."

Investors can choose between manual trading or setting up automated investment plans for regular contributions. The selection of stocks prioritizes heavily traded companies across sectors like technology, financial services, and healthcare, with plans to expand the offering over time. The platform also offers commission-free UCITS ETFs and a Core ETFs portfolio.
