Mishaps and romance set for ZDF's "Dr. Nice" season 4

German public broadcaster ZDF is moving forward with a fourth season of its successful drama series "Dr. Nice." The show, starring Patrick Kalupa as the titular Dr. Moritz Neiss, continues to explore the professional and personal life of a surgeon facing significant challenges.

The series has consistently drawn millions of viewers, often airing in direct competition with the popular crime drama "Tatort" on Sunday evenings. The third season proved particularly successful, achieving a second-place ranking in viewership ratings.

The fourth season is set to introduce new tensions, particularly between Dr. Neiss and colleague Dr. Florian Schmidtke (Maximilian Grill), following the appointment of Schmidtke's wife, Jana (Teresa Rizos), as the hospital's new equality officer. Dr. Neiss also faces temporary relocation to the Schmidtke household. According to producer Raiser, the season will include weddings, pregnancies, accidents, comas, new medical puzzles, and substantial personal developments for the characters.

Several new cast members will join the production. Tanja Schleiff will appear in a guest role, while Alexander Schubert, Anna Fischer, Janina Elkin, and Franziska Junge will take on leading roles in individual episodes. Patrick Kalupa and Josefine Preuß, reprising their roles as Dr. Neiss and Charlie Winkler respectively, will return as main cast members.
