Missick Cellars Named Among Texas's Best Wines
Boerne's Missick Cellars has been recognized with a "Best in Texas" honor at the 2026 Texas Vintners Cup, less than a month after opening its tasting room.
Boerne, Texas – Missick Cellars, a veteran-owned winery located in Boerne, has been named a winner of the 2026 Texas Vintners Cup, the state's premier competition that selects twelve wines as "Best in Texas."
The winning wine, a 2023 Petite Sirah, was chosen through a blind tasting by a panel including wine journalist Jessica Dupuy and Master Sommeliers Jack Mason and Craig Collins. Winning wines receive statewide recognition, including a feature in Texas Monthly and promotion through the Texas Department of Agriculture's Uncork Texas Wines program.
The award marks a significant achievement for the winery, which opened its tasting room just off Boerne's Hill Country Mile. Winemaker and co-owner Chris Missick, who relocated to Texas's Hill Country from New York's Finger Lakes, brings over a decade of winemaking experience and aims to produce wines that reflect the Texas terroir.
Missick Cellars has received prior accolades, with its 2024 Texas High Plains Viognier earning Best in Class at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and its 2023 Texas Dry Riesling taking Double Gold at the same competition the previous year. The Texas Vintners Cup is the only statewide competition that crowns a definitive "Best in Texas" lineup rather than awarding medals by class.
