MIT and Harvard Students Develop New Economic Mobility Tools

San Francisco, Aug. 20, 2026 – Graduate students from MIT and Harvard have developed a suite of new technology tools designed to enhance economic mobility for families facing financial hardship. The initiative is supported by fellows from NextLadder Ventures, MIT Lab, and Anthropic.
The new tools were showcased at the AI for Social Impact Fellowship Demo Day. The project focuses on leveraging technology to address societal challenges and provide practical solutions for those in need.
Four key organizations have pledged to quickly adopt and scale the technologies developed by the graduate fellows. This collaboration aims to ensure the tools reach and benefit the intended populations effectively.
