Tokyo – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (Mitsubishi Motors) and Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., Ltd. (Foxtron), responsible for electric vehicle development within Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The agreement stipulates that Foxtron will supply Mitsubishi with an EV model developed by Foxtron on an OEM basis. This model will be manufactured in Taiwan by Yulon Motor Co., Ltd. (Yulon Motor) and introduced to the Oceania region (Australia and New Zealand) in the second half of 2026. The vehicle is part of Mitsubishi's product plan for Australia, announced last year and extending through 2030.

Mitsubishi Motors is advancing its electrification strategies, including updates to its Outlander PHEV model and the addition of hybrid variants to models like Xpander and Xforce in the ASEAN region. Beyond the collaboration with Foxconn, Mitsubishi Motors intends to leverage its Alliance partners, such as Renault Group in Europe and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in North America, for OEM models to enhance its electrified vehicle lineup.

The planned EV is expected to feature strong driving performance and an advanced infotainment system, making it suitable for the target markets. Following this MOU, Mitsubishi Motors and Foxtron will proceed with further discussions toward a definitive agreement.
