Mitsubishi Motors Reports Q3 Sales Decline Amid SUV Strength
Mitsubishi Motors North America reported third-quarter sales of 18,543 vehicles. Strong performance in the SUV lineup helped offset the planned discontinuation of Mirage models.

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) announced third-quarter 2026 sales totaling 18,543 vehicles. The company noted that robust sales across its SUV portfolio helped to counterbalance the planned discontinuation of the Mirage and Mirage G4.
The overall sales figures represent a 5.6% decrease compared to the third quarter of 2025. This decline was primarily driven by the phasing out of the Mirage models, which accounted for over 14% of MMNA's sales in the prior-year period. In contrast, combined SUV sales saw an increase of nearly 10% during the quarter. The Outlander led this growth with 9,311 units sold, up 27.1%, and the Outlander Sport saw significant gains, with sales rising 91.6% to 5,902 vehicles.
MMNA is emphasizing its commitment to the SUV segment, highlighting three models starting below $30,000 MSRP. The company also promotes its "America's Best-Backed Vehicles" program, which includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
Looking ahead, Mitsubishi Motors is progressing with its Momentum 2030 business plan, which includes significant product renewals. Upcoming additions to the lineup will feature a refreshed Outlander Plug-in Hybrid and the Eclipse Sportback EV, marking the brand's return to fully electric vehicles. An off-road-focused Outlander variant is also slated for early next year, alongside efforts to modernize retail operations and expand dealer networks.
