Mixbook Expands Beyond Photo Books to Become Memory Platform With New App

Redwood City, Calif. – Mixbook, a company recognized for its photo books, has announced a significant expansion beyond its traditional offerings with the launch of a new iOS app. The application aims to help users rediscover, organize, and create narratives from the memories stored within their phone's camera rolls.

The new app enables forgotten moments to be transformed into various forms of storytelling content, including memory art, movies, digital magazines, or traditional photo books. This development signifies Mixbook's evolution into a more comprehensive "home for memories," integrating memory discovery, creative storytelling, and sharing across both digital and print formats.

"Our camera rolls hold the people and memories we care about most, but the stories behind those photos can easily get lost," stated Andrew Laffoon, CEO and co-founder of Mixbook. "For 20 years, Mixbook has helped people preserve those stories through photo books. Now, we aim to provide a home where people can bring the stories of their lives back together, both digitally and in print."

The app utilizes a proprietary memory technology that analyzes photos and combines them with user-provided context to surface and organize memories. The processing largely occurs on the user's device, ensuring user control over their content. Mixbook is also launching "The Memory Project" to explore the significance of memory, led by cognitive psychologist Christie Chung.

The Mixbook app is now available for free download on iOS devices. An optional subscription, Mixbook+, offers enhanced features, watermark-free downloads, and credits for print products. Creating photo books remains free, with payment required only for printing.
