Müllermilch may acquire Vogtlandmilch
Plauen's mayor, Steffen Zenner, has expressed concern over a potential acquisition of Vogtlandmilch by Müllermilch, warning of negative consequences.

The potential acquisition of Vogtlandmilch Plauen by the Müllermilch concern is currently a subject of discussion. Plauen's mayor, Steffen Zenner (CDU), has expressed his critical view of the plans to MDR SACHSEN. Zenner emphasized that the city needs the dairy's operational site.
The mayor warned that the situation could lead to "a similar disaster" as experienced with Plamag and Wema Vogtland, two traditional Plauen companies that faced insolvency after being acquired. He voiced concerns about job security and the possibility of the site being downsized or closed if production capacity is exceeded.
In recent days, indications have intensified that Sachsenmilch Leppersdorf GmbH, part of the Müller group, is in negotiations to acquire Vogtlandmilch. According to the "Bauern Zeitung" newspaper, representatives from Müllermilch allegedly informed cooperative members about the plans during a meeting. Inquiries made by MDR SACHSEN to both Vogtlandmilch and Müllermilch regarding the potential takeover plans have so far remained unanswered.
The Saxon Ministry of Agriculture, in response to MDR SACHSEN, spoke of a "potential acquisition." The ministry stated that the impact of the acquisition on the Saxon dairy industry remains to be seen. Vogtlandmilch Plauen GmbH is acting independently and for economic reasons, according to the ministry. A seamless transition for milk producers and suppliers, without interruption in milk reception, is the priority.
Vogtlandmilch Plauen GmbH is currently managed by regional farmers and employs approximately 180 people. The company's production facilities were recently modernized with a new filling plant, representing a total investment of 46 million euros.
