Mobile Game 'Love and Deep Space' Faces Backlash Over Toxic Plant Cocktail Garnishes
The international version of the mobile game 'Love and Deep Space' has drawn controversy after sharing cocktail recipes on social media that included toxic plants as garnishes.
IT Home reports that the international version of the mobile game "Love and Deep Space" is facing controversy for sharing cocktail recipes that included toxic plants as garnishes. The game's official social media accounts posted five mocktail recipes inspired by in-game items.
The issue arose because some of the recommended garnishes were actual poisonous plants. For example, one drink suggested using flame lily, which contains toxic alkaloids, and another recommended datura, known for its hallucinogenic properties. Ingesting these plants can cause severe poisoning.
Players quickly pointed out the dangers and warned others not to attempt making the drinks. IT Home suggests the game's social media team did not verify the real-world safety of the suggested garnishes.
Following the backlash, the game's official account issued a safety warning stating that the drinks are fictional and part of the game's setting. The company urged players not to try making or consuming them in reality.
