Modulate raises $25M for voice models and analysis suite
Voice intelligence startup Modulate has secured $25 million in new funding to develop its voice models and analysis platform. The company focuses on detecting deepfakes and fraud.

Boston-based voice intelligence startup Modulate has raised $25 million in new funding for its platform. The company utilizes an array of small models to offer enterprises transcription, emotional analysis, deepfake and AI music detection, and policy enforcement for voice agents in regulated industries.
The funding follows a notable trend in the burgeoning voice AI industry: investors backing companies aiming to make AI voices sound more human. Modulate also competes with other firms focused on detecting conversational intent and protecting against voice deepfakes.
The funding round was led by Future Ventures, with participation from Hyperplane and Lakestar. Prior to this round, Modulate had raised $41 million at a $170 million valuation, according to PitchBook data.
Founded in 2017 by Mike Pappas and Carter Huffman, Modulate initially focused on voice modulation for gaming. It later shifted its focus to a voice-based moderation tool. With the advancement of voice AI, the company now concentrates on identifying various forms of AI audio generation and analyzing the intent behind spoken words.
