Calhoun, Georgia – Mohawk Industries, a major flooring manufacturer, has announced a planned leadership change within its Flooring Rest of the World segment. Wim Messiaen is set to join the company on October 16, 2023, and will succeed Bernard Thiers as president of the segment effective February 1, 2024.

Mr. Thiers, who has led the segment since 2009, will transition to a senior advisory role to ensure a smooth handover. During his tenure, the segment underwent significant expansion, entering new geographies and product categories, notably through acquisitions such as IVC Group in Europe and Godfrey Hirst in Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Messiaen brings extensive experience from the building materials sector. Most recently, he served as CEO of VPK Group's corrugated packaging division for five years. Prior to that, he spent 16 years with Etex, a global building materials company, and held earlier positions with Domo Group's contract carpet tile division.

Mohawk Chairman and CEO Jeffrey S. Lorberbaum cited Messiaen's track record in driving international organic growth, managing acquisitions and divestitures, and developing new product categories. Lorberbaum also acknowledged Thiers' substantial contributions to the segment's growth and strategic development.
