Moldova's e-government agency has launched its integrated digital identification system, EVO, for use in the banking sector. Four financial institutions – Moldindconbank, FinComBank, EuroCreditBank, and Victoriabank – are now accepting EVO's digital identifiers, allowing customers to conduct transactions and access services through secure digital credentials.
The initiative aims to streamline customer onboarding and enhance the security of online banking operations. EVO's digital identifiers have been developed in accordance with European standards, promoting interoperability and aligning the country's digital infrastructure with international benchmarks.
This integration represents a key phase in Moldova's digital transformation strategy, extending the reach of secure digital identity verification from public services into the private financial industry. Officials stated the system's design prioritizes user convenience and data protection.
