Monument Mining Starts High-Grade Sulphide Ore Mining at Selinsing Gold Mine
Monument Mining Limited has commenced mining high-grade sulphide ore at its Selinsing Gold Mine in Malaysia, mobilizing new equipment and preparing for the start-up of its new processing plant.

Monument Mining Limited has begun mining operations for high-grade sulphide ore at the Selinsing Gold Mine in Malaysia. The company has deployed new mining equipment to the Buffalo Reef area, aiming to increase production volumes and supply raw material to the soon-to-be-commissioned sulphide processing plant.
Pre-stripping activities at Buffalo Reef started in July 2022, and significant sulphide ore zones have now been exposed. President and CEO Cathy Zhai stated that these higher-grade ore zones will provide ample feed for the new processing plant, which is expected to reach full production capacity in the coming weeks. This development signifies the commencement of gold concentrate sales, marking a new milestone in Monument Mining's gold production in Malaysia.
Mining volumes increased in March 2023 following heavy rains in February. The current monthly mining rate is approximately 450,000 bank cubic meters (BCM), with plans to increase it to 500,000 BCM per month. The operation is focused on feeding the processing plant at its maximum capacity of 80,000 tonnes per month and maintaining a three-month ore stockpile.
The Buffalo Reef area includes three main open pits and a smaller satellite pit. The mined sulphide ore contains arsenic and antimony, which will be carefully controlled during operations to produce higher-value gold concentrates. Ore is categorized and stockpiled based on its grade and impurity content to facilitate effective blending before processing.
