MOOKA Clarifies Air Purifier Performance for Large Spaces
MOOKA released guidance on selecting air purifiers for large rooms and open floor plans, detailing factors like CADR and filtration technology.

Air purifier manufacturer MOOKA has released guidance aimed at clarifying the selection criteria for air purifiers intended for large rooms and open-plan living spaces. The company's communication emphasizes that in expansive homes, an air purifier's effectiveness hinges on multiple technical factors, including its Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), the total volume of air it can process, and the true efficiency of its filtration system.
The company's document highlights that standard air purifiers, designed for smaller enclosures, are insufficient for large, open environments. In these settings, air circulation is more complex, requiring devices capable of moving substantial air volumes efficiently without creating stagnant zones or generating disruptive noise. MOOKA explains that simply considering square footage coverage is inadequate; instead, users must evaluate the entire room's air volume, ceiling height, and air exchange rates.
The press release also addresses the distinction between a "whole home air purifier" and multiple portable units. MOOKA notes that the term "whole home air purifier" is often misunderstood. While integrated duct systems exist, they involve significant installation costs and can impede airflow. Instead, powerful, standalone portable air purifiers offer a flexible and continuous solution, directing purification power precisely where it is most needed.
MOOKA stresses that the prevalence of open-plan layouts in modern residences poses challenges for air quality management. Without solid walls to contain them, airborne particles like dust, dander, and cooking odors migrate freely throughout the entire space. This necessitates devices that can establish a consistent and effective air circulation loop across the expansive area. Compact room purifiers may only clean a small radius around themselves, leaving much of the open space untreated.
