Moonshot AI in talks with Microsoft, Amazon, Google for revenue sharing

Chinese artificial intelligence startup Moonshot AI is in discussions with Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet's Google about potential revenue-sharing agreements, according to three people familiar with the matter cited by Reuters.
The proposed deals would allow the U.S. cloud computing giants to host Moonshot AI's flagship Kimi K3 model. If an agreement is reached, it would mark a significant revenue-sharing collaboration between a Chinese AI firm and major American cloud providers.
Moonshot AI is seeking a 30% revenue share for services related to its K3 model on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud. This aligns with terms the company offers to its key clients for its open-weight models. However, the discussions are reportedly in early stages, and there is no certainty they will conclude successfully.
Moonshot AI has not responded to requests for comment, and spokespeople for Microsoft, Google, and AWS declined to comment. Key outstanding issues in the talks are said to include revenue-sharing mechanisms, data access, and auditing of token consumption.
In July, CSoftware announced a revenue-sharing agreement with Moonshot AI without disclosing terms. Moonshot AI recently made its Kimi K3 model openly available.
