Moonshot Announces Development of AI Wearable Luna and Companion App

Moonshot, a startup backed by Y Combinator, is developing an AI-powered system consisting of a necklace wearable called Luna and an application named Samantha. The company intends to create a digital companion capable of recalling past conversations and assisting users with personal goal tracking and daily decision-making.

The hardware is a silver pendant featuring two microphones, with no camera integration. Users can manually disable the microphones via a double-tap gesture. Notifications from the Samantha software are delivered through subtle haptic taps and a white light indicator on the pendant, while audio playback is routed through a smartphone or connected earbuds.

The company is currently accepting $1 refundable reservations for the device. A broader crowdfunding campaign is slated for November with an expected price point of $499. The firm projects that the hardware will begin shipping in the spring of 2027.

Moonshot aims to provide users with a tool for self-actualization, focusing on memory and actionable reminders. The company notes that the product is still in development, and the current reservation phase serves to gauge interest and establish a roadmap for the technology.
