Morgan Stanley CEO projects AI capital expenditure to reach $15 trillion over next decade

Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick estimates that the AI sector will require between $10 trillion and $15 trillion in capital investment over the next 10 years.

3 November 2026

Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick stated at the Global Financial Leaders Investment Summit that the AI sector faces a massive capital requirement of $10 trillion to $15 trillion over the next decade. These investments are projected to contribute 50 to 70 basis points to global GDP growth.

Pick highlighted that the financing of AI infrastructure involves complex dependencies across multiple industries, requiring coordination between advanced AI research labs, semiconductor manufacturers, infrastructure developers, and energy suppliers.

Addressing market concerns regarding a potential AI bubble, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon noted that demand for computing power currently continues to outpace supply. He emphasized that a significant portion of future value is expected to emerge from the software and applications layer.

Comparing the current surge in AI development to historical technology cycles, Pick described periodic market adjustments as a healthy process for the industry. He cautioned that while some projects currently lack robust capital structures and may fail to survive, this volatility is an expected component of technological innovation.
