Motorway A1 Closed on Weekends in Hamburg for Bridge Work

Significant traffic disruptions are expected on the A1 motorway, a key artery in northern Germany, during July. The section between Hamburg-Stillhorn and Hamburg-Harburg, heading south towards Bremen, will be closed for two weekends as part of bridge construction work.

An earlier planned series of closures has been reduced. The closure scheduled for the last weekend in June has been cancelled. Consequently, only two consecutive weekends in July will experience the southbound closure from Lübeck towards Bremen.

The affected periods are from Friday, July 3, 10 PM to Monday, July 6, 5 AM, and from Friday, July 10, 10 PM to Monday, July 13, 5 AM. Traffic will be diverted via the parallel federal road B75 (Kornweide and Neuland), which will be signposted (U76).

Autobahn GmbH Nord has indicated that the work is partly weather-dependent, which could lead to short-term schedule adjustments. Extended travel times should be anticipated on both the motorway and its diversion routes for all travelers.
