Mount Soledad Offers Multiple Routes and Summit Memorial

Mount Soledad in San Diego has become a favored destination, offering multiple distinct routes to its summit for cyclists and other visitors. Each path converges at the same destination, the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial.

The memorial's centerpiece is a nearly 30-foot white cross, surrounded by walls inscribed with veterans' names, photographs, and service histories. The cross has stood as a focal point for nearly a century.

According to attorney Allen Leisorek, the choice of route depends on the individual's fitness level and mood. Shorter paths are more challenging, while longer routes wind through residential areas for a more gradual ascent.

The summit also provides panoramic views of San Diego, including the Pacific Ocean, coastline, and inland areas. Leisorek describes the climb as a pilgrimage that blends faith, sacrifice, and country.
