MPC-HC 2.8.3 Update Adds Windows 11 Style Theme and Rounded Menus
The open-source media player MPC-HC has been updated to version 2.8.3. The release introduces a Windows 11-inspired interface theme and native rounded menu options for Windows 11 users.
Open-source media player MPC-HC has released version 2.8.3, incorporating a new interface theme based on the Windows 11 design. This update brings modernized menus and dialog boxes, along with an option for native rounded pop-up menus specifically for Windows 11.
Users can select the new Windows 11-style theme through the player's advanced options. While the rounded menu feature is native to Windows 11, the theme itself can be applied on Windows 10 systems as well.
Beyond visual changes, the update includes technical improvements. MPC Video Renderer has been updated to version 0.10.8.2600, and MediaInfo DLL is now at version 26.10. The parsing of CUE files has also been enhanced.
Additionally, version 2.8.3 adds HLG tone mapping for EVR-CP and EVR-Sync renderers. HLG is a transmission format for High Dynamic Range video, commonly found in broadcast television. Tone mapping adjusts the brightness and color of such video content to be suitable for the display device.
