Multiple cities in China are advancing the implementation of a "one car, one code" system for ride-hailing vehicles. This regulatory measure is expected to curtail issues such as the falsification or misuse of operating permits and instances of illegal ride-hailing operations.

For example, Jinan's transportation authority has announced that all compliant ride-hailing vehicles in the city will be equipped with these unique identifiers by July 15. Citizens can verify a vehicle's compliance by scanning the QR code, which can be found on or inside the car, via specific WeChat accounts. This allows for on-the-spot verification of the vehicle's legitimate operating status.

Prior to Jinan, cities like Xi'an and Quanzhou had already begun enforcing the "one car, one code" policy. Nanjing's transport bureau also issued new regulations in May introducing exclusive QR codes for ride-hailing cars, enabling verification through scanning.

Drivers working for platforms like Cao Cao Mobility have confirmed uploading their credentials and affixing the QR codes to their vehicles as instructed. They believe the system will help address discrepancies between drivers and vehicles, improving overall compliance. As illegal operators are phased out, this shift is anticipated to increase orders for legitimate drivers.
