Musk Endorses Nvidia CEO Huang's Stance on Open-Source AI Models
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has shared his agreement with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's views on the importance of open-source artificial intelligence models on the X platform.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has reposted the first-ever post made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on the X platform.
Musk accompanied the repost with the statement, "Completely agree, Huang is right." Huang's initial post shared an open letter, co-signed by 25 companies including Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, and IBM, advocating for the significance of open-source AI models.
Huang stated that "The world needs frontier proprietary models, and it also needs frontier open-source models." He argued that open-source development, such as the "distillation" technique for AI models, is fundamental to industry innovation and distinct from illicit appropriation of proprietary model technology.
Open-source models can lower the barrier to AI adoption for small businesses and academic institutions, fostering market competition. Furthermore, open architectures can prevent monopolies on computing power and technology, enabling widespread benefits from AI across sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture.
