Mutares to Acquire Stellantis' Free2move Car-Sharing Business

Mutares SE & Co. KGaA has entered into an agreement to purchase Stellantis’ full shareholding in the Free2move car-sharing business. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Free2move operates short- and long-term free-floating car-sharing services via a proprietary mobile application. The service is available across 14 cities in Europe and the United States, making it one of the most geographically diversified car-sharing platforms in operation.

Stellantis stated that the sale aligns with its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy and its disciplined capital allocation approach. The automotive group is focusing its investments and resources on regions, brands, and technologies expected to generate the strongest returns. Stellantis has committed to ensuring continuity for customers, partners, and employees throughout the transition period.

For Mutares, the acquisition establishes a new platform within the mobility sector. The investment firm plans to enhance fleet management, continue the transition towards battery-electric vehicles, and strengthen customer experience in urban mobility markets. Mutares believes that Free2move, as an independent entity, will benefit from increased agility and dedicated investment to foster growth in a competitive market.

The completion of the transaction remains contingent upon necessary regulatory approvals and other standard closing conditions.
