Nagoshi Studio Reportedly Ceases Operations
Reports suggest that Nagoshi Studio, founded by Toshihiro Nagoshi known for the Ryu Ga Gotoku series, has ceased operations. The studio's future became uncertain after its primary funder withdrew support.

Nagoshi Studio, established by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator behind the Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) game series, has reportedly ceased operations. The studio's activities have been under scrutiny since its main financial backer withdrew support.
In March, reports emerged that Chinese gaming giant NetEase would stop funding the studio. A NetEase spokesperson confirmed that funding would cease starting in May. Following these developments, Nagoshi Studio's official YouTube channel was shut down, and its website became inaccessible, fueling speculation about the studio's closure.
Journalist Andy Robinson, in a recent VGC podcast, stated that while no official announcement has been made, the studio is "no longer in existence." Reports also indicate that Nagoshi himself is actively seeking new employment within the gaming industry, suggesting the team has disbanded.
Founded after Nagoshi's departure from Sega, Nagoshi Studio had announced a new project, "Gang of Dragon," which was intended to follow the stylistic conventions of the Yakuza series. The status of this game's release is now uncertain following the reported closure of the development studio.
