Nanobiotix and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have announced a comprehensive clinical research collaboration to evaluate NBTXR3, a therapeutic agent designed to destroy cancer cells upon activation by radiotherapy.

The collaboration will initially support nine new Phase I/II clinical trials involving approximately 340 patients. These trials will focus on head and neck, pancreatic, thoracic, lung, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary cancers. The studies aim to assess NBTXR3's potential as a monotherapy or in combination with checkpoint inhibitors.

Nanobiotix will invest a total of $12 million in the collaboration, with payments structured over the course of development and contingent on FDA registration. The trials will explore NBTXR3 across different radiation modalities and disease stages.

Most of the trials are expected to launch in 2019. This partnership expands Nanobiotix's clinical development program for NBTXR3, aiming to enhance radiotherapy benefits and improve outcomes for cancer patients.
