Nanobiotix Phase 3 Cancer Trial Enrolls First Patient in Asia
Biotechnology firm Nanobiotix has enrolled the first patient in Asia for its Phase 3 NANORAY-312 trial, evaluating the NBTXR3 treatment for cancer.

Biotechnology firm Nanobiotix and its partner LianBio have enrolled the first patient in Asia for the NANORAY-312 Phase 3 global trial. The study evaluates NBTXR3, a treatment designed to enhance radiotherapy, for locally advanced head and neck cancer in patients ineligible for platinum-based chemotherapy.
The first patient was enrolled within LianBio's licensed territories, which include China and South Korea. This marks progress in the broader NANORAY-312 trial, which aims to recruit 500 patients globally. The study compares the combination of NBTXR3 and radiotherapy against conventional radiotherapy.
NBTXR3 consists of hafnium oxide nanoparticles administered via intratumoral injection and activated by radiotherapy. The company believes the treatment can significantly increase tumor cell death and trigger an immune response. Previous studies have indicated NBTXR3 could extend survival in certain cancer types.
LianBio CEO Yizhe Wang expressed confidence in NBTXR3's potential to improve outcomes for difficult-to-treat patients. He highlighted the treatment's relevance in Asia, where radiotherapy use for cancer is increasing. Nanobiotix continues patient enrollment globally.
