NASA Adds $950 Million to SpaceX Contract for ISS Missions

NASA has awarded SpaceX an additional $950 million to secure three more crewed missions to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft. The missions are expected to be completed by 2030.

This contract modification increases the total number of operational flights under NASA's Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) agreement with SpaceX to 17. The deal ensures continued transportation services for astronauts to and from the orbiting laboratory.

Under the terms of the agreement, SpaceX will provide all necessary services, including ground support, launch, in-orbit operations, and recovery of the spacecraft for each mission. The contract also includes cargo transport and the Crew Dragon's role as a "lifeboat" while docked at the ISS.

Upon completion of all contracted flights, SpaceX is set to receive a total of $5.92 billion from NASA. The agency is scheduled to launch its next SpaceX Crew-13 mission in October, with Crew-14 planned for spring 2027. The Crew Dragon has been a key component of NASA's crew rotation schedule since its operational debut.
