NASA Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman visits La Palma for scientific collaboration
Artemis II mission commander Reid Wiseman traveled to the Canary Islands to engage with the scientific community at La Palma's observatory site.
NASA astronaut and Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman visited the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands on October 27, 2026. The trip focused on connecting space exploration initiatives with the island's established astronomical research infrastructure.
La Palma, known for its high-altitude observatories, has long served as a site for deep-space observation and scientific discovery. Wiseman's presence highlights the ongoing exchange between current crewed spaceflight missions and ground-based astrophysical research.
This visit underscores the collaboration between space agencies and international research centers as NASA prepares for upcoming lunar missions. The trip serves to reinforce the logistical and observational support provided by terrestrial facilities to modern space exploration programs.
