National Air and Space Museum Launches Video Series for Middle School Classrooms

The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum has launched "On Air," a new educational video series designed for middle school students in grades five through eight. The initiative aims to bring aerospace learning directly into classrooms across the country.

The "On Air" series features short videos created with educators in mind, making complex aerospace topics accessible for younger students. Each episode is intended to supplement existing curricula and spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Topics covered in the initial episodes include the history of flight, the principles of aerodynamics, and the basics of space exploration. The museum stated that the series was developed in response to a need for engaging, standards-aligned educational resources that can be easily integrated into daily lesson plans.

This launch expands the museum's educational outreach efforts, providing digital resources to schools that may have limited access to physical field trips. The museum plans to release new episodes regularly, continuing to cover a broad range of air and space history and science.
