National Geographic has released "Africa: Earth's Wild Home," a new seven-episode documentary series focusing on the diverse wildlife and ecosystems of the African continent. The production spanned four years and involved filming in nearly 30 African countries.
Each episode delves into specific habitats, ranging from jungles and deserts to plains, mountains, and islands. The series showcases animal survival stories, including primate tool use and the challenges faced by young animals. It also highlights the scientists, photographers, and conservationists whose work made the series possible, with the final episode focusing on local leaders working to preserve Africa's biodiversity.
The series is narrated by actress Wunmi Mosaku, who described the opportunity as an honor and a chance to connect with and celebrate the continent's diverse, beautiful, and relentless nature.
"Africa: Earth's Wild Home" is intended to launch a larger franchise, with future series planned to document wildlife across all seven continents.
